For Wedding Gift Suggestions la Terrine Presents Terrafirma Ceramics
You're looking at one of our favorite collections at la Terrine. It is from a company called Terrafirma and Ellen Evans is the artist. Ellen is a local artist. She lives over on the east side of Manhattan. She makes everything out in her studios in Long Island City.
Her technique is to use antique lace and fabrics to create textured designs on the serving pieces and dinnerware that we carry at la Terrine. No two pieces are the same. Ellen signs and dates each piece, so it's a lovely gift item where we can give a bio about the artist, and it is an authentic New York City piece. Ellen has been doing this for over 25 years.
Her pieces are dishwasher/microwave safe which is great for entertaining and everyday use, and you can customize the dinnerware from this collection. So if you chose to have one of the patterns in your dinner plate with a different pattern in the salad plate, it's a way of having a unique dinnerware collection made specifically for you. And the beauty of this being made in New York City is that any of the pieces can be ordered in different colors and patterns, and we can have them for you in a three week period of time.
Specifically, what we love is that the clay is also from the US. It's from the south of the US, so it's truly an authentic US-made product with the touch and the design of our New York City artist who is local to our neighborhood and we feel really proud to carry the collection.
