CAROLINE'S WEDDING......WHAT SHE LEARNED

Helpful Planning tips:

FOLLOWING ENGAGEMENT

  • Create a Wedding Website (people do use them)
  • Take your time selecting the right Wedding Planner
  • His or hers first task should be to choose a Hotel close to all the Events, especially NYC Brides (more later on Wedding Planner tasks)
  • Select the venue, the florist, the cake, etc. (I met 3 cake vendors before deciding on the first one)
  • Set up your Wedding Registry
  • Choose and order Bridesmaids dresses early to avoid manufacturing issues (as I had)
  • Always order more Wedding invitations than needed (I promise you will need more)

MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING

  • Don't put specific dates on personalized items (we have 500 leftover napkins with our names and past due dates on them)
  • Personalize gifts for the Wedding party (they will use them after the Wedding)
  • Your Honeymoon is a once in a lifetime event. Take the time to focus on it (I can tell you it will make a difference). And if you can, plan a day to unwind before you leave (good day to see family and pack correctly)

WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING

  • Have your Wedding Planner organize transportation for your guests after the Wedding Ceremony
  • Have he or she prepare for inclement weather. Have some pretty umbrellas handy (they can become some of your favorite photos)
  • Have he or she check on street closings, parades, etc. to avoid any surprises
  • Ask the Church or other House of Worship if there are any ceremonies before or after yours (helpful in scheduling flower deliveries before and family photos afterwards)
  • Hire a Runner (could be young family friend or relative or intern from your office) to put goody bags together and deliver them to hotels and to run last minute errands
  • Put Welcome bags together to avoid waiting to the last minute (believe me it's not fun)

DAYS BEFORE THE BIG DAY

  • Take the time to design the Welcome table for your reception (it's the first thing your guests will see when they arrive)
  • Flowers are beautiful but expensive (we reused them from the Cocktail Party to the Wedding Reception)
  • Prepare all tips (Wedding Planner, drivers, venue, etc.) a few days before the Wedding (avoid doing it when you return from your Honeymoon as yours truly did)
  • And last but not least make sure everyone walking down the aisle has nothing in their pockets (my father's glasses fell from his pocket when he was walking me down the aisle)

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE.....A DAY I WILL NEVER FORGET.
IT WAS AWESOME!

I hope my tips will be helpful to you. Best of luck!
